Links to pages related to various subfields of linguistics, including my own specialties of phonology (functionalist approach) and mathematical linguistics. Computational Linguistics -- linguistics and computers, natural languages processing Psycholinguistics -- psychology of language Sociolinguistics -- how is language affected by large social structures Cognitive Linguistics and Neurolinguistics -- mind and language, trying to answer questions like 'does mind make language or language make the mind?' The role of the brain in language. Historical Linguistics -- the history and development of language; etymological studies Language Acquisition -- how do we learn to speak?
